Skills in a second language
Global awareness is becoming increasingly important in this day and age, let alone 13 years from now. Having said that, a second language will be vital in surviving in the 'real world'. In addition, it will open up more jobs opportunities than a monolingual person and expose our grads to an appreciation for other cultures.

I don't necessarily believe in what this article says, but there is consideration being given as to whether "programming languages" should be considered "languages." In my opinion it is a reach, but this article makes some very interesting points:
