Long term relationship with other schools, for the purposes of curriculum collaboration, student exchange, service learning, etc.
Global schools should strive to cultivate "sister school" relationships with 3-4 other schools in the world. These schools become like family, allowing deep curricular collaboration, student exchanges, service learning trips, etc. It's best if there are a variety of different types of global schools (rural vs. urban, developing countries vs. developed, Spanish vs. French vs. Swahili vs. Mandarin, etc.)

This is very important especially in this Our Gigantic Global Economy of the 21st Century. people especially the young ones need to interact through out studies Globally with one another through languages, courses carried offered in the various schools. Most importantly, we really need to sort out a way globally that students can have a uniform mach in the Curriculum (subjects) offered at various schools and this is going to go a long way to help

I cannot agree with this idea enough, especially in the more rural areas of first world countries, it will give the students a broader understanding of other cultures and identities of the world, broadening their horizons, making the world seem like a much larger, richer place, and not just what they can see from their window. turning them into the aforementioned "Global Citizens"

Through "sister schools", students can be offered language/culture/history/art classes from another part of the globe - via online class sessions, group discussions, and online assignments/tests.

This idea would certainly grow students into gloobal citizens by given them that broad spectrum of life and a better understanding of other cultures and environments. It will help individual analysis of situations in different parts of the world which shall foster global citizenship.

Add to that: Two schools in developed countries raising money for a third school in a developing country and have a three way exchange of culture and ideas.

Currently, Bathurst High School of New Brunswick is attempting to foster a long term relationship with two young orphaned girls from Uganda. Our hope is to have our middle school students enter into a long term friendship via skype and eventually have these two sisters graduate with our students. Over the period of the six to seven years, any number of issues/topics/ideas/initiatives may be entertained. We believe that this will raise awareness of two cultures and hopefully create meaningful dialogues about how we may help each other.
