Think about a time when, as a student, an educator, a parent or an administrator, school worked really well for you. It is a time when excitement, interest and motivation were all at high levels, and you left school thinking, “I wish every day could be like this!”

All activities are designed and implemented based on the impact they will have on student learning.
Parents and educators work together as equal partners in education and each student learns and advances at their own pace...there are no grades (K, 1, 2, etc)
Students are responsible for their own learning and monitor their progress along with their teachers.

All people would know that they are a member of the community and embrace their membership.
Relationships would be positive, lifelong and important. Learning would be positive, lifelong and important. Learning would be relevant, problem solving and fulfilling. Goals would be collectively shared, incrementally achieved and individually rewarding. Citizenship would be cherished. Work would be its own reward. Our school would be the hearth by which all about stay warm. Our schools need to be womb to grade 14 (2nd year post-grad). We need to begin our educational community continuously from conception to adulthood.

To be the key player in someone's moment of success and achievement.
In order to achieve this I have the time to explore the resources at my disposal and the required functioning technology to unpack its uses. The communication between myself and parents is healthy and cooperative. We are on the same page and there is a proper follow through at home (parent engagement).

Successful schools would encourage diversity and treat the tensions created as an opportunity for direction and growth.
My personal philosophy of education reads: "Inclusive Values are Different by Nature". It stems from the fact that our value systems begin to solidify at around the age of six. This makes my fantasy school unique. In 'my' school system, students would experience cognitive, emotional and physically literate curriculum in equal measure. Teachers in every school would represent this wide range of epistemologies. Painters, physicians, plumbers and philosophers would value one another's knowledge and status with equal regard. Education stereotypes would fall. Their tradecrafts of art, healing, water, hygiene and critical thinking would be shared with valued abandon. Students would…

School would be a peaceful and actively focused place.
If they were working at their best all the time, we would not be dealing with so many incidents of tattling, arguing and bullying. Students would be engaged in their learning and not getting into trouble. Students would be explicitly taught problem solving skills and how to show empathy. This would allow them to self-regulate and solve conflicts. Reducing conflict and anxiety would allow staff and students to focus on teaching and learning.
