  2. Invest in Cities

I think it’s important to invest in Canada’s big cities, like Montreal, Toronto, Québec City, Vancouver, etc. These cities are what attracts intelligent minds, but to keep them, it is important to invest at the economic level, be it in small-to-medium sized enterprises, or at the cultural level, be it in festivals and ethnic communities.

  3. Building Government-Funded Cities there will Benefit Citizens

Building government-funded cities with quality houses at decent prices would be motivating. If the government rented or resold houses at reasonable prices, workers could benefit from their salaries a little more.

  4. Better Infrastructure

When you think of countries with the best infrastructure, Canada isn't one of them. Since our citizens live across a vast expanse of land, it would seem as if the government hasn't done its best to create equal and efficient infrastructure for all Canadians. This is relevant in transportation, energy, communication, water and waste areas. There is a gap between the quality of infrastructure from one end of the country to the other.

Compared to top countries with regard to infrastructure, Canada has a lot of work ahead to catch up. Countries like France, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Hong Kong, etc.…

  6. Give our education system a complete makeover. Recognize our new immigrants.

First off, the "brain drain" seems to be reversing, and those who are leaving are mostly health professionals trying to escape higher tax rates - so let them go. Plenty of new immigrants are health-care professionals and we need to increase our ability to recognize their credentials in Canada and offer them decent jobs in their field.

Some people know what they want to do as early as grade seven. Let them do it. Allow people age 12/13 to enter what are now considered college level programs IF they have a clear mission in life already. Expand apprenticeship programs to…

  7. Cost of Living & Salary

I think that the salaries people receive is too little for the daily expenses they have, especially for young people. A lot of my peers from school are from remote cities in other provinces. The salary they receive from getting an internship in a big city is not enough to cover their rent for the few months they're there, nor does it leave them a lot of savings after they've paid their expenses. Few people receive proper compensation for the jobs they perform.

The housing market has been inflating at an incredibly fast rate these past years, and this makes…

  8. Make the culture within the workplace more fun and not so rigid. Treat employees like family. Let them know you care about them.

Many workplaces are more about the bottom line rather than the culture of the work place. It is #'s first people second.

Work should be like your family because you spend more time at work than you do at home if you are full time.

Culture within the workplace should include monthly check-in's to see if the employee is happy or not. Make it open where they feel they can share anything about the work going on. If the outside life is having an effect then that is a good opportunity to share it.

Business should be top priority, but…

  9. Yes, I have thought of moving!

The reason I consider moving to a city like New York City is because the pay is better than what I can ever get in Toronto for the same job (more specifically: a job in the legal field). If Canada wishes to safeguard its talent at home, then the pay needs to go up to compensate for the time and energy that the best of the best are investing in Canada.

  10. Jobs that Young People are Passionate About

I think my personal reason for looking outside Canada for employment opportunities to accelerate my career is that there are many more captivating job offers elsewhere that young people, such as myself, are passionate about. Canada should make more accessible to young people jobs that allow them to gain experience in a field that is of interest to them and that they are passionate about. This can be with internships, summer contracts, etc.

  11. Culture in the Workplace

Culture in Canadian workplaces is often different than those of foreign countries. The way of working is different, and that can attract workers. It would be interesting to see the impact on Canadian employers if a foreign mentality took over the workplace.
